It is known that 'Ppuing Ppuing' began to be used by BJ Almi on AfreecaTV in 2006. Subsequently, internet broadcaster YangDding also used it as a reaction for 'Star Balloons' (donations), gradually gaining recognition in the internet broadcasting community. It gained explosive popularity among the general public when Krystal and Lee Jong-suk used this expression in the sitcom 'High Kick! Revenge of the Short Legged' in October 2011. Through this sitcom, it achieved cult status, and became an even bigger topic when Kang Min-kyung shouted 'Ppuing Ppuing' during her acceptance speech for a first-place award.

'Ppuing Ppuing' is an internet neologism used when pretending to be cute, trying to get out of an awkward situation, or showing aegyo (a cute display of affection) to ask someone for something.
