From the latter half of 2023, as her return to China became imminent, the number of visitors to Everland surged to see Fu Bao. Interest peaked regarding her journey back to China on April 3, 2024, and her subsequent life there, solidifying her status as a widespread social meme.

Fu Bao, whose name means 'a treasure that brings happiness,' is a giant panda who brought immense joy and comfort to the people of South Korea. As the first panda born through natural breeding in Korea, her warm interactions with zookeeper Kang Cheol-won, akin to a 'grandfather and granddaughter' relationship, deeply moved many.
