The 'Barabam Challenge' began to regain attention in the latter half of 2024 and started trending significantly as a K-pop challenge around July 2025. The origin of the challenge is attributed to a Reels video posted on May 10, 2025, by 'Reels-ui Jeong-ri,' a Reels club from Korea University's Department of Mathematics Education.

The 'Barabam Challenge' is a short, repetitive dance challenge performed to 'Barabam,' an insert song from the popular animation 'Pororo the Little Penguin.'
